This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use the oBook mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

2.1 Account Information

Accounts may be created using:

• Sign in with Apple
• Google Sign-In
• Email and password registration

2.2 User Content

When using oBook features, users may upload or create content, including:

• PDF documents
• Text files
• Images imported from the photo library
• Images captured using the device camera
• Highlights, notes, and bookmarks created in the app

2.3 Automatically Collected Information

• App usage events such as app launches
• Subscription and purchase events
• Device model
• Operating system version
• Application version
• Crash logs and performance diagnostics

3. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage user accounts
• To provide document reading and text-to-speech functionality
• To extract text from uploaded images and scanned documents
• To convert uploaded documents or text into audio
• To store user files and preferences securely
• To manage subscriptions and purchases

4. AI Processing

oBook uses internally deployed open-source artificial intelligence models to provide text-to-speech and optical character recognition (OCR) functionality.

When users upload documents or images, the content may be sent to oBook's servers where it is processed by our AI systems in order to:

• Extract text from images or scanned documents
• Convert text into natural-sounding audio

All AI processing is performed on infrastructure controlled by oBook. User content is not sent to external AI providers or third-party AI APIs.

5. Data Storage

User documents, generated audio, and related data may be stored securely using cloud storage infrastructure.

We currently use Amazon Web Services (AWS S3) for secure storage of user files and related content.

6. Information Sharing

We do not sell or trade your personal information.

We may share information only with trusted service providers that help us operate the app.

• RevenueCat – manages subscription purchases and subscription status for Apple In-App Purchases.
• Amazon Web Services (AWS S3) – secure storage for uploaded documents and generated audio files.
• Sentry – crash reporting and performance monitoring.

These providers may process information only for the purposes described in this policy and are expected to protect user data appropriately.

oBook does not use advertising networks, does not track users across third-party apps or websites for advertising purposes, and does not share personal information with data brokers.

7. Device Permissions

oBook may request the following permissions:

• Camera – to capture images of documents for OCR processing.
• Photo Library – to import images containing text.

Users may revoke these permissions at any time through their device settings. Some features may not work properly if required permissions are denied.

8. Purchases and Subscriptions

Purchases within the iOS app are processed through Apple In-App Purchases.

oBook does not collect or store payment card details.

Subscription management is handled through RevenueCat.

9. Data Retention

We retain user information only as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain account functionality, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

If a user deletes their account, associated personal information will be deleted from our systems within a reasonable time period, except where retention is required by law.

10. Children's Privacy

oBook is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that such information has been collected, we will delete it promptly.

11. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information.
